Capitalising on nature’s superpowers to create circular low-carbon alternatives.
At MATERIACT, we create materials that make the most of nature’s exceptional superpowers and reuse existing resources – that’s why our products showcase biomass (like hemp), as well as recycled plastic. As you read, our teams are hard at work transforming natural fibres into high-performance, low-carbon compounds and surface materials.
Regulations are tightening, expectations are rising. Across Europe and beyond, legislation is pushing industries to rethink their impact — and materials are right at the center of that shift. In mobility and other key sectors, one question is on everyone’s mind: how can we design sustainability into the very core of our products? Bio-based materials offer part of the answer. They’re renewable, traceable, and increasingly high-performance — but most importantly, they challenge the way we think about innovation and responsibility.
At MATERI’ACT, we believe that materials can be a powerful lever for change. Here’s how we’re turning that belief into action.

C’est la question qui a animé la récente table ronde de MATERI’ACT, organisée dans le…
Biomass has already made our materials stronger, lighter and lower carbon. We’re currently hunting high and low for ways to add more natural fibres – and integrate new bio-sources.

using agricultural by-products keeps waste down and promotes circular practices.
bio-based compounds are strong, durable and lightweight – and meet tough industry standards
each different kind of biomass brings unique characteristics – perfect for tailored materials across a whole host of applications.
Hemp is a super crop with remarkable properties for the environment, from carbon sequestration to low water requirements, as well as contributing to healthy soil. Its fibres are also pretty handy in materials, as they’re strong, light and durable.
At MATERI’ACT, our story began with hemp. We teamed up with local agricultural cooperative Interval, through our joint venture APM, to source hemp fibres to develop our very first product, NAFILean, for high-rigidity structural parts. Since then, our NAFILean product family has continued to grow with a starring role for hemp.
Pineapple leaves are a by-product from fruit cultivation, which would otherwise go to waste or be burnt (adding more CO2 to the atmosphere). The fibres are incredibly flexible and contribute to unique textures for sleek yet functional materials. Through our partnership with ANANAS ANAM, we’ve started integrating pineapple leaf fibres into our surface materials, like Pinatex. And there are more materials on their way.
Materials made from biomass don’t have to be boring or ugly. Despite what some say. Using different kinds of biomass, we can create distinctive aesthetics AND meet specific technical requirements. Our NAFILean Vision range is living proof.
